What Happens When I Give?

Crystal Park Baptist Church Benoni members are encouraged to give proportionally, anonymously, cheerfully, sacrificially and regularly. Giving of our time, talent and treasurer is part of our worship to almighty God. Have you asked the question what happens when I give?

The short answer is ministry happens and God is glorified when you give. Your giving enables our church to focus on Biblical teaching, passionate evangelism, loving fellowship and fervent worship.

What about Giving?

Giving as an act of worship is a familiar theme throughout Scripture (Numbers 18:26). In the Old Testament all Israelites tithed their earnings, around 23.3%, as a method of taxation; which provided for the needs of the priests of the Tabernacle and the sacrificial system (2 Chronicles 31:5).

Christians are not told to tithe however we give proportionally to what we earn (1 Corinthians 16:1 – 2).

We give to meet the needs of the saints (Acts 2:44 – 45), the needs of Christian workers (1 Timothy 5:17 – 18) and the needs of the poor (Matthew 25:31 – 40).

Our giving should be anonymous (Matthew 6:1 – 4) and should be considered a great privileged, not a heavy burden; done with cheerfulness of heart (2 Corinthians 9:7) and be sacrificial in nature (2 Corinthians 8:1 – 5).

Giving is part of regular worship however special offerings can be taken up (Acts 11:29 – 30).

Finally our prime motive of giving is the example laid down by our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 8 – 9). Our giving ought to be a self-motivated, God-glorifying act of worship (2 Corinthians 9:7).
