7.8 The second New Testament ordinance is the Lord’s Supper, which the Lord Jesus himself instituted on the night that he was betrayed. The Lord’s Supper is observed by eating the bread and drinking the cup which symbolise the body and blood of the Lord, which bread and cup are a visible proclamation of the death of Christ and its benefits for all who are united to Christ (1 Corinthians 11:23–29). The Lord’s Supper is to be observed regularly by all believers in good standing with their local church who, receiving the elements in faith, spiritually receive and feed upon Christ crucified and all the benefits of his death (John 6:293547–58).

Article 7.8

This is an extract from Crystal Park Baptist Church Benoni‘s Confession of Faith. While our members must affirm the Statement of Belief our elders must, in addition, affirm the Confession of Faith. The document represents: the sound doctrine we teach, a unity between us on key aspects of the Christian faith, sets a clear expectation to our members and represents the leadership’s hopes for the congregation as a whole. This Confession is held by elders of member churches of Sola 5. Sola 5 is an association of God-centred evangelicals in Southern Africa currently with member churches in Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
