10.1 After death, the human body returns to dust; the spirit, however, is immortal and neither dies nor sleeps (Genesis 3:19; Matthew 10:28; Luke 16:23; 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:6–8; Hebrews 9:27). The spirits of the righteous are received into the presence of the Lord in anticipation of their final resurrection and full eternal inheritance (Luke 16:23; 2 Corinthians 5:6–8; Philippians 1:21–23; Revelation 6:9). The spirits of the wicked are cast into hell, where they await their final judgement (Luke 16:23–28; Acts 1:25; 2 Peter 2:9).Article 10.1
This is an extract from Crystal Park Baptist Church Benoni‘s Confession of Faith. While our members must affirm the Statement of Belief our elders must, in addition, affirm the Confession of Faith. The document represents: the sound doctrine we teach, a unity between us on key aspects of the Christian faith, sets a clear expectation to our members and represents the leadership’s hopes for the congregation as a whole. This Confession is held by elders of member churches of Sola 5. Sola 5 is an association of God-centred evangelicals in Southern Africa currently with member churches in Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
