1.2 God’s existence derives from himself (Isaiah 48:12Acts 17:24–25), and he is set apart from all his creatures (Psalm 113:4–61 Timothy 6:16). He is pure spirit (Deuteronomy 4:15John 4:24), having no body or unstable emotions (Numbers 23:19Psalm 33:11Malachi 3:6James 1:17). God is infinite in his being and perfections: changeless, eternal, almighty, most holy, all-knowing, most wise and free (Malachi 3:6James 1:17Psalm 90:2Revelation 1:4Isaiah 6:5Revelation 1:8Isaiah 6:3Revelation 4:8Psalm 139:1–6Romans 11:33–34Daniel 4:35Romans 11:35–36Ephesians 1:11b). He is most loving, gracious, merciful, compassionate and forgiving (Exodus 34:6–7Psalm 103:8–10); he rewards those who seek him (Jeremiah 29:13Hebrews 11:6), but hates sin and is perfectly just in the punishment thereof (Nehemiah 9:32–33Psalm 5:4–6Habakkuk 1:13Revelation 16:5–619:11).

Article 1.2

This is an extract from Crystal Park Baptist Church Benoni‘s Confession of Faith. While our members must affirm the Statement of Belief our elders must, in addition, affirm the Confession of Faith. The document represents: the sound doctrine we teach, a unity between us on key aspects of the Christian faith, sets a clear expectation to our members and represents the leadership’s hopes for the congregation as a whole. This Confession is held by elders of member churches of Sola 5. Sola 5 is an association of God-centred evangelicals in Southern Africa currently with member churches in Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
