Dear Crystal Park Baptist Church Benoni,
So much has changed in 48hrs. And if things change again we’ll communicate to you again. I want to let you know how the elders are thinking about COVID-19 Coronavirus and our church. Precaution seems the measured response for the moment.
We aren’t a source of information about coronavirus, nor are we a source of medical advice. This letter is how we hope to mitigate the spread of illness during our weekly public gatherings:
1.) Please make an effort to wash your hands and sanitize. There is soap in every bathroom. Please do use soap and water often. There is hand disinfectant at each access point and in the mother’s room.
2.) Please be aware of your own potential risk and health conditions. If you are over 60 and have pre-existing health conditions, or you are sick, please take precautions by staying at home.
3.) We are a very friendly church. The handshake or a hug is a common greeting for us. Over this period it seems prudent to limit physical contact.
4.) Parents, please watch your child’s health. Please do not expose your child to others if they are sick.
5.) Please do not expose yourself to others if you are sick.
6.) For your info the National COVID-19 support service is +27 60 012 3456. Notify us if you become ill (office@crystalparkbaptistchurchbenoni or +27 87 700 5319). We want to know so that we can support you.
7.) Should you not be able to come to church watch the service via our Facebook Live stream. Leave a comment so we know you were there. By sharing our Facebook sermons you help others in Benoni find Bible-based teaching. Especially now as many are seeking answers.
8.) We see no need to cancel our Sunday service. Both our services (8:30am and 10:30am) are currently under 100 souls in the room. We need one another as much now as ever. We will set the seating for 100 max and the door greeters will ensure we don’t go over the number. There will be no tea and coffee served between the services.
9.) Bible studies continue at the discretion of Bible study leaders. We do not want to place any pressure on leaders, hosts or attendees. We ask that all exercise wisdom in attending based on your personal risk profile.
10.) It is our practice to close Sunday School over school holidays. We will do that over this period and reassess the situation when schools go back.
If the situation changes we may need to make further adjustments. We will be sure to keep you informed.
One day Christ will renew all things, doing away with all suffering and disease. Until that day, may our Master find us serving Him in our broken world.
