This is the first week of Crystal Park Baptist Church Benoni's membership course. Our outcome this week will be a written salvation testimony. Before you write out Your Testimony we will answer the questions What is the Gospel? and What does Conversion look like? Then we will consider Paul's Testimony as an example.

What is the Gospel?

Christ died for our sin and rose in victory. All men must repent.

44 He told them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. 46 He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead the third day, 47 and repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things.”

Luke 24:44-48 (All Scripture quotations are from the Christian Standard Bible)

What does Messiah mean? Why did Jesus suffer? (46b)

How did Jesus rise? Why was His resurrection necessary? (46c)

What does repentance mean? Why is repentance necessary? (47)

What did witnessing cost the early church? What has it cost you? (48)

The Gospel isn't news that you're OK. It's news that you're in a dreadful predicament. God is holy; He hates sin. You've sinned against the creator of the universe and His wrath is levelled against you. What's good about the Good News is Jesus Christ. He came and died for your sins, bearing the full wrath of God upon Himself and He rose from the dead in victory over the grave, so that by believing in Him, repenting from your sins and turning to God, you can be restored to God through His finished work upon the cross.
