Guidelines for the Benediction

Example of the Benediction

Here is an example the benediction at Crystal Park Baptist Church Benoni. How does your church do the benediction? If you have a recorded example online please drop us a email so we can learn (churchcraft@crystalparkbaptistchurch.co.za).

Guidelines for the Benediction

Guidelines for the benediction. After the sermon the preacher transitions the congregation from the corporate worship service to the period of fellowship. This may be useful to print and keep at the back of your Bible.

Close your sermon in a prayer

  • Thank God for the relevance of His Word to us today.
  • Try and not repreach the sermon or preach a point you didn’t make in the sermon.
  • A brief prayer asking God to make us doers of His Word not merely hearers is appropriate.

Before the Benediction

  • After the 8:30am service inform that there is tea and coffee outside and all are invited to join.
  • Inform that a team will available at the front of the church should anyone need prayer.

The Benediction

  • The benediction closes the service and indicates it’s the right time to leave the sanctuary.
  • Say, “Please stand for the reading of God’s Word.”

After the Benediction

  • Go outside and greet everyone, including the children, as they leave the church.
